Songs of the Saints
Youtube Encouragement from the Choir
Today we are praying hymns associated with celebrating holidays and the liturgical year.
Music adds so much to our enjoyment of special times and adds emotion and majesty to solemn occasions.
Think about your favorite memories of Christmas.
Think how carols make the season special.
Think about how music at Lent draws us closer to understanding what our Lord endured on the cross.
Think about how the joy of Easter is expressed in music.
What music adds to your celebrations?
O Little Town of Bethlehem

Choirs of Kings College Cambridge
O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy darkness shineth The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary, And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God, the King, And peace to all on earth.
How silently, how silently, The wondrous Gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming, But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, The dear Christ enters in.
O holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell:
Oh, come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel.
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
Isaac Watts
Dulcimer version David Summerford
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Jesus Christ is Risen Today
Lyrica Davidica and Charles Wesley
King's Choir singing (Youtube)
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once, upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!
But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!
Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as God’s love, Alleluia!
Praise our God, all you heavenly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia!
